Top Tips for an Easy Moving Day

Top Tips for an Easy Moving Day

Without the right preparation and support, moving home can be stressful. Thankfully, Coppermaker Square’s friendly on-site team is here for you 24/7. So when you get the keys to your new rental apartment, you can worry less about logistics and more about what to order for dinner.

Don’t get yourself in a muddle, read our guide to ensure your move-in goes smoothly.

Before You Move

  1. Get planning

Set some time aside to carefully plan your move. Start by making a list of everything you need to do before the big day, from enlisting friends and family to help, to organising parking and setting up your utilities.

Coppermaker Square’s on-site team will give you access to our resident app, so you can read our moving guides, book move-in services, and explore the many exclusive benefits available from day one.

  1. Pack smart

Moving home is the perfect opportunity to declutter. Go room by room organising what you want to keep, donate or throw away, keeping relevant items together as you pack. When you start loading your much-loved belongings into boxes, be sure to label everything clearly with its room and contents. This will make unpacking a whole lot easier when you get to your new rental apartment.

  1. Do your admin

Before you move, ensure you set up all your utilities, including electricity, gas, water, council tax, rental insurance and internet. Our 150MBs high-speed Wi-Fi is included in Coppermaker Square’s monthly rental cost.

You should also update your address and redirect your mail as soon as you can. Make a list of everyone you need to notify, including your bank and credit card companies, the DVLA, your doctor, employer and membership organisations.

On the day

  1. Put aside the essentials

Even if you have a system in place, it’s easy to lose track of your things on moving day. Avoid hunting for your toothbrush at 1am by packing a bag of essentials, so everything you’ll need for the first 24 hours is close to hand. This should include:

  • Personal items: a change of clothes, toiletries, medication, a towel, phone charger

  • Food: moving home is hungry work so pack plenty of snacks and drinks to keep you going

  • Cleaning supplies: if you’re moving from another apartment, you’ll need to clean up after yourself

  • Bedding: when it’s time to crash, you won’t want to waste time searching for your pillow

  1. Meet the team

Our on-site team will arrange to meet you on move-in day to hand over your keys and complete an induction of Coppermaker Square. They will provide you with an inventory of the property and answer any initial questions to help you settle in. Forget something? Don’t worry – our team is available 24/7 so you can count on us – day or night. Trollies are also available to make transporting boxes easier, while our loading bay will give you direct lift access to your new building.

  1. Log into the app

Log in to our Resident App to access a host of information and guides on living at Coppermaker Square. You can also find exclusive resident discounts and experiences from our partners at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, check out our latest upcoming events or reserve a spot at an exercise class.

Get settled in

  1. Take a break

This way you’ll be in a much better position to enjoy your new apartment and add your own personal touches to make it feel like home.

Practise some self-care by taking advantage of Coppermaker Square’s very own gym and wellness centre. Work up a sweat in the gym, do some laps in the pool or just relax and recharge in the sauna or steam room.

  1. Explore the area
