Resident spotlight: Star treatment for birthday teen

A Cake, a choir, and beauty gifts – how living at Coppermaker Square helped super-dad Dean give his daughter the perfect birthday

A Coppermaker Square resident had her birthday wish come true, when she was first in line at the grand opening of Sephora’s second UK store at Westfield Stratford.

The beauty retailer, which stocks hundreds of brands of makeup, skincare, haircare and fragrance, is the ultimate shopping destination for cosmetics’ fans. So when Harrison building resident Dean discovered it was opening on his doorstep, he knew getting a spot at the event would be the perfect birthday present for his daughter Stori-Lee.

General Manager at Coppermaker Square Dheraen Quick, explained: “Dean saw an advert about the store opening through our resident app so he came to ask our team what is so good about Sephora. When we explained that this is basically the ‘B&Q for beauty’ he understood. He then tried to find any way possible to get his daughter a space at the front of the queue for one of their goodie bags. Dean definitely wins the award for ‘Best Dad Ever’ for his efforts!”

Determined to be first through Sephora’s door, Dean and Stori-Lee — who was celebrating her birthday on the same day — decided to camp outside the store overnight.

But it wasn’t long before the Westfield Stratford shopping centre team got wind of Dean’s super-dad efforts. As well as providing loungers to make their night more comfortable, Stori-Lee was given the ultimate celebrity treatment on the morning of the event. After finding out they live nearby at Coppermaker Square, the centre team presented her with a giant birthday cake as a gospel choir sang a rendition of ‘happy birthday’. To top it off, they gave her a shopping gift card and a bag of Sephora goodies.

This is a prime example of the perks of living at Coppermaker Square, situated in the heart of Stratford, East London — a stone’s throw from Westfield Stratford — Coppermaker Square is made up of nine impressive apartment buildings offering studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments to rent.
